What is the definition of capital market?

Often, capital market refers to the structured market for trading stocks and bonds. Examples are the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, NASDAQ, and the New York Bond Exchange. However, capital market can also include less structured markets such as private placements for stocks, bonds, and other debt.

What are the reasons for a stock dividend instead of a cash dividend?
A corporation might declare a stock dividend instead of a cash dividend in order to 1) increase the number of shares of stock outstanding, 2) move some of its retained earnings to paid-in capital, and 3) minimize distributing the corporation’s cash to its stockholders.

If a corporation has 100,000 shares of stock outstanding and it declares a 10% stock dividend, the corporation ends up having 110,000 shares outstanding. An individual stockholder having 1,000 shares prior to the 10% stock dividend will have 1,100 shares after the stock dividend. This individual’s stake in the corporation was 1% (1,000 out of 100,000 shares) prior to the stock dividend and will remain at 1% (1,100 out of 110,000 shares) after the stock dividend.

Since the corporation hasn’t really changed because of the stock dividend, the total market value of the corporation should not change. In other words, if the total market value of the corporation was $1 million before the stock dividend, it should be $1 million after the stock dividend. However, the market value of each share should decrease: $1,000,000 divided by 100,000 shares = $10 per share, and $1,000,000 divided by 110,000 shares = $9.0909. The total market value of the individual’s holdings should also remain the same: 1,000 shares X $10 = $10,000, and 1,100 shares X $9.0909 = $10,000. If the market does not adjust for the increased number of shares, the individual stockholders will benefit.

The accounting for stock dividends is available under our Explanation of Stock Splits and Stock Dividends.

CMA CPA Training

As we embark on our careers, it is better we have some guidelines at hand. The world we are entering is in many ways very different from that it was a few decades back. All need cushy jobs. When it comes to choosing our careers, we have to take charge of our destiny. To become an internationally recognized Accountant we require professional qualification. CMA and CPA programs have relevance in this regard.

The Certified Management Accountant
(CMA) program has been designed to recognize the unique qualification and expertise of those professionals engaged in Management Accounting and Financial Management. Any Bachelors degree holder is eligible to take up the program.

The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) (www.imanet.org), New Jersey, USA offers CMA qualification which gives it international accreditation. With a worldwide network of about 60,000 professionals, IMA is the world’s leading organization dedicated to empowering accounting and financial professionals to drive business performance.IMA provides dynamic forum for professionals to advance their careers through CMA certification, research, professional education, networking, and advocacy of the highest ethical and professional standards.

CMA has much highlights compared to other professional qualifications, the most important being the average of 6-9 months time period taken to qualify the two paper exam. The online, objective exams and the high pass percentage (55-60%) add to the vogue of CMA. As per IMA standards an average salary drawn by a CMA per month would be$2000, in global view. While completing the CMA program abroad is highly expensive, in India its expenses are far less.

The two papers included in the exam are Financial Planning, Performance and Control and Financial Decision Making respectively. The first paper covers areas like Planning, budgeting, forecasting, Performance Management, Cost Management, Internal controls and Professional Ethics whereas the second paper concentrates on Financial Statement analysis, Corporate Finance, Decision Analysis and Risk Management, Investment decision and Professional Ethics. Exams are conducted in prometric centers across the globe. A candidate could schedule his exam in any of the three testing window periods spread across 6 months in a year (January, February; May, June; September, October). The exam tests the cognitive skills of the candidate. One who is a qualified CMA will be entering into job profiles like Financial Manager, Management Accountant, Cost Analyst, Financial Analyst etc.

To reflect the globalization of business and importance of sound management accounting practices in all parts of the world, the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and the Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India (ICWAI), a statutory body enacted under an act of Parliament of India have entered into a joint partnership agreement as per which there is a mutual recognition of each organization’s respective certifications.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is the license issued by one of the 55 states or territories of US to authorize holder to practice as a certified Public Accountant in that jurisdiction. The board of Accountancy of each jurisdiction, National Association of State boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) regulates CPA program.

CPA exam includes four papers as Auditing and Attestation, Business Environment and Concepts, Financial Accounting and Reporting and Regulation. AUD paper of 4.5 hours covers knowledge of auditing procedures, generally accepted auditing standards and other standards related to attest engagements, and skills needed to apply in those engagements. BEC (2.5 hours) covers knowledge of general business environment and business concepts to understand the underlying business reasons for and accounting implications of business transactions. FAR (4 hour) paper covers knowledge on generally accepted Accounting principles of business enterprises, not-for-profit organizations and governmental entities.REG paper (3 hours) covers knowledge of federal taxation, ethics, professional and legal responsibilities and business law.

Once Applied for CPA program the candidate receives Notice to Schedule (NTS) after which he/she can schedule for the exams conducted in 4 testing windows (January, February; April, May; July, August; and October, November). CPA exams as CMA are prometric exams but the only limitation is that it could be taken only in the specified jurisdiction in USA.

In the present day scenario of booming MNC’s across the globe the vogue for internationally qualified professionals like CMA and CPA are immense. Compared to non-certified professionals CMA’s and CPA’s express the expertise and excellence at par with global standards.

What Is Equity Trading?

Trading equities involves more than stock trading. Equity trading in the public markets can involve many different securities, requiring diverse strategies and trading skills. Skilled traders will know the related trading strategies that complement their objectives.
Definition
1. Trading equity refers to the universe of stocks, options and preferred stock in public markets. Equity trading specifically eliminates debt trading.
Where Does Equity Trading Take Place?
2. Trading equities usually takes place in public markets, both domestic and overseas. Equity trades can take place at almost any time of the day or night. Trading securities not on a listed exchange involves cost inefficiencies due to lack of liquidity. It is possible to trade equities through the futures markets.
The Electronic Market
3. Equity trading now involves the electronic matching of buy and sell orders. This is true for almost all exchanges. Large orders on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) are sometimes handled by specialists.
Bid and Offer Price

What is trading on equity?

Trading on equity occurs when a corporation uses bonds, other debt, and preferred stock to increase its earnings on common stock. For example, a corporation might use long term debt to purchase assets that are expected to earn more than the interest on the debt. The earnings in excess of the interest expense on the new debt will increase the earnings of the corporation’s common stockholders. The increase in earnings indicates that the corporation was successful in trading on equity.

If the newly purchased assets earn less than the interest expense on the new debt, the earnings of the common stockholders will decrease.

Best Intraday Tips

Intraday (Tips) Trading is a very important aspect of trading in Stocks and Commodities Markets. People often tend to ignore intraday trading and also there is a general myth that no one can money by trading intraday in the financial markets. Contrary to this belief of the mass, I feel a lot of money can be made by Intraday trading and it can be much more than forms of trading.

Intraday / Tips trading also known as day trading is a style of trading in which a trader buy/sell a security and close the position the very same day with no overnight risk. The only risk which he has is the risk of intraday movement of stock price. Due to the very same reason the there is a very limited risk in intraday trades as compared to Positional / BTST trades, as the later have the overnight risk due to which you can lose a major part of your capital even if you have a extremely high or low market opening the very next day. In a sense you are protected against the gap up and gap down openings of the markets rather they might provide you as a buying or selling opportunity

Intraday traders have a freedom to go short on a stock by any quantity which is not there for positional traders and also small traders. As you are not allowed to carry short position in Cash Segment for overnight trading you have to trade in Futures for the same if you want to go short on a stock for overnight trading. In futures trading the Lot size for trades is fixed and thus it creates a restriction on the trader to trade that minimum quantity, which may not be possible for many small traders. Also many stocks are not available for futures trading so you cannot take short positions in such stocks. On the other hand while trading in Intraday segment you can take short or long position on almost all the stocks and that too in any quantity. So it is more convenient and easy for small traders as well

Intraday Tips /traders do not require much capital as the brokers often provide a high leverage for intraday trading , so the trader just needs to put margin money from his side and rest is being paid by broker for taking a positions. The limit / leverage varies from broker to broker, it can be 5x(10 times) to 25x, depending upon you relation with the broker and your credibility. But this leverage is often being misused by most of the intraday traders in the Indian Stock Market and commodities markets. People indulge into the act of overtrading with managing the risk and thus end up losing a major chunk of their capital in a single day or trade. For ex. You take a position of 2.5 lacs on stock even have a margin money of Rs.10,000 in you account, if the stock goes against you trade by 3% you lose Rs. 7,500 which is 75% of you original capital. This way it can be risky but this risk can be managed by deciding the trading size and keeping stoploss for every trade.

Intraday Tips / trading sometimes become very difficult for amateurs as well as the expert traders when the market is sideways , or if the trader is not able take a right decision. In such circumstances the trader starts losing huge amount of money in a very small time, which is bad for his financial health.

Thus one should chose for a right partner to get the best Indian Stock Market Intraday Tips , which are not only the best but also accurate , reliable, time tested and fruitful. Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti

Celebrated by the Sikhs, the birthday of their tenth and last guru, this day witnesses’ large processions and special prayer gatherings at all Gurudwaras.
Background
Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Nanak (Sikh Guru), was born at Patna Sahib on December 22, 1666, (Poh Sudi Saptmi). His birthday generally falls in December or January or sometimes twice within a year as it is calculated according to Hindu Bikrami Calendar, which is based on the lunar calendar. According to the Nanakshahi Calendar, the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh Sahib falls annually on January 5.

Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti : An overview of Guru Gobind Singh's life
Guru Gobind Singh (1666-1708 C.E.) lived during an extremely dangerous time. His father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, had sacrificed his life to protect the freedom of worship by Hindus, who were being threatened with conversion or death by zealous Muslim rulers. Abduction of women and pillage of goods were rampant, but the people were too timid and terrorized to resist. In the midst of this political situation, Guru GobindSingh gained great stature as both Saint and soldier a leader of firm spiritual principles and intense devotion to God, and at the same time, fearless dedication to protecting all people from oppression and injustice through the practice of Kshatradharma.
Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti
In 1699, He dramatically initiated five men from the lower castes as His Five Beloveds, blessing them with great courage as well as nearness to God. They became models for the Khalsa, the Order of the Pure, which Guru GobindSingh created to stand on the front line against injustice. The Khalsa were held to a very strict moral and spiritual discipline and under Guru Gobind Singh's courageous inspiration, helped to turn the tide against Mughal oppression in India.
In addition to his spiritual and military leadership, Guru Gobind Singh was a gifted intellectual and had many poets in his court. He was inspired to write many powerful spiritual compositions that infused a martial spirit in the people.
This included the Jaap Sahib, but He did not include them in the Sikh scripture, the Guru Granth Sahib. His writings have instead been collected in a separate volume, called the Dasam Granth. Upon His passing away, He instructed his Sikhs to regard the Guru Granth Sahib as their teacher. 'Granth' literally means 'volume' (especially, a Holy volume). 'Sahib' is a term of reverence used for anything sacred. The Guru Granth Sahib is the perpetual guru of the Sikhs today.
The prasad of Ugadi/Gudi Padwa is the bitter leaves of the neem tree with jaggery. There are special foods prepared for this festival. In the southern states, puligore-a sour tamarind rice dish, bobbatlu, holige- sweet stuffed bread and Ugadi Pachadi made of jagerry, raw mango pieces, neem flowers and tamarind is prepared. In Maharastra, shrikhand -a fragrant yogurt dessert, with poori-a fried puffy bread is prepared.
